WASHINGTON D.C.: The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) said it is investigating a JetBlue flight on Monday that experienced sudden severe turbulence, leading to eight injuries.
When the incident occurred, the NTSB said, JetBlue Flight 1256, an Airbus A320, was flying near Jamaica en route from Guayaquil, Ecuador, to Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
JetBlue said seven customers and one inflight crew member were met by medical personnel and transported to a hospital for evaluation and treatment, adding that the flight landed safely.
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) said it was also investigating the flight.
"JetBlue will work to support our customers and crew members. The aircraft for this flight has been taken out of service for inspection," a JetBlue spokesperson said.
