TAIPEI, Aug. 18, 2023 /PRNewswire/ -- To enhance the international visibility of Taipei's innovation and entrepreneurship resources and welcome international startup teams to settle down in Taipei, the Taipei City Government's Department of Economic Development has been actively promoting the "Talent Exchange Program." As part of this program, the department created an international entrepreneur brand community "Taipei Entrepreneurs Hub (TEH)" to attract international startups and foster a community for them in Taipei. On August 15th, 2023, TEH hosted the "Creating A Cross-Border Startup" overseas promotion and networking event at Zilla Space in Bangkok, Thailand, drawing the participation of over 40 startup participants.
The Taipei City Government actively promotes international startup landing in Taipei and is organizing an overseas promotion event in Thailand to promote TEH's annual activities.
The Taipei City Government's Department of Economic Development stated that the goal for us is to bring in key technologies and research capabilities from international startups to promote technological cooperation and transformation in the city's industries. In recent years, the Department has actively connected global startup ecosystem resources, using TEH as its flagship brand to organize various exchange activities across different industries and time zones. This initiative provides resources and guidance for a thriving entrepreneurial community. This year, TEH's core theme is "Greater Health Industries," with planned events including the "Win A Greater Health" international online startup pitch contest, networking events, and overseas promotion activities.
During the promotional event, Commissioner Chen Chun-An of the Taipei City Government's Department of Economic Development delivered a speech online, sharing the city's innovation and entrepreneurship resources. The Department has integrated Startup@Taipei Office and Invest Taipei Office to welcome international startup partners, both onsite and virtually, to collaborate with the government in addressing the challenges of the entrepreneurial journey.
In addition to the online participation of Arthur Chen, Executive Director of BE Health Venture Capital, a partner of this year's startup pitch contest, TEH alumni such as GDT ASIA, local startups and startup organizations like the Thai Startup Association, GreenRocket, and Funnow were invited to share their entrepreneurial experiences in Taipei. The event also discussed the challenges posed by the differing age demographics between Thailand and Taiwan and the necessary opportunities and resources in the health industry.
The "Win A Greater Health" international online startup pitch contest is now open for applications from international startup teams. The application period is from now until September 15, 2023, Taipei Time (UTC+8). International startup teams are encouraged to apply and register for the contest with a focus on implementing projects in Taipei and developing business expansion plans for the Taiwanese market. Winning teams will not only receive an international flight ticket to Taipei for the Demo Day presentation but also have a customized matching session and business itinerary arranged during their stay, offering diverse opportunities for technology connections and collaborations with businesses and venture capitalists in Taipei.
