SINGAPORE, Aug. 14 (Xinhua) -- The SkillsFuture Singapore (SSG) and the Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA), with support from the Institute for Adult Learning (IAL), jointly launched the Training and Adult Education (TAE) Industry Digital Plan on Thursday, local media reported.
The digital plan was designed in consultation with industry partners to guide small and medium-sized enterprise (SME) training providers in their digitalization journey. It is a part of Singapore's SME Go Digital program.
"It offers an easy-to-use, step-by-step guide to help training providers adopt digital solutions at each stage of their growth," said Minister of State for Education and Manpower Gan Siow Huang at the Adult Learning Symposium 2020.
Gan said that digital transformation of the TAE sector needs to go deeper than providing more online learning. TAE training providers, just like businesses across Singapore, need to fundamentally digitalize the organizations in order to unlock operational efficiencies, streamline routine processes, and glean insights from data.
Local media said that Singapore has over 1,000 TAE organizations, in which 98 percent are SMEs. They provide more than 20,000 jobs in the city-state.
