BEIJING -- Chinese stocks closed higher on Wednesday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index up 1.74 percent, at 3,403.44 points.
The Shenzhen Component Index closed 1.84 percent higher at 13,406.37 points.

BANGKOK -- The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) index Wednesday moved down 10.76 points, or 0.78 percent to close at 1,362.46 points.
Some 18.11 billion shares worth 66.27 billion baht (about 2.13 billion U.S. dollars) changed hands.

HO CHI MINH CITY -- VN-Index, the stock market index of Ho Chi Minh City bourse in southern Vietnam, closed at 864.5 points on Wednesday, up 1.08 points, or 0.13 percent against the previous trading day.
On Wednesday, VN30-Index, a benchmark index for the southern bourse, which tracks the 30 leading stocks by both market capitalization and liquidity, closed at 805.06 points, down 0.62 points or 0.08 percent.

HANOI -- Stock market index of Vietnam's capital Hanoi, HNX-Index, closed at 114.37 points on Wednesday, up 0.66 points or 0.58 percent from the previous trading session.
Prices of 78 stocks went up, 54 stocks dropped, while 225 stocks remained unchanged.

SINGAPORE -- Singapore stocks closed higher on Wednesday, with the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) going up 0.3 percent, or 8.07 points, to close at 2,669.49.
The STI index went down 1.05 percent, or 28.19 points, to close at 2,661.42 on Tuesday.

JAKARTA -- The IDX Composite, an index of all stocks listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) in Jakarta, closed at 5,076.17 points on Wednesday, up by 89.09 points, or 1.79 percent against that on the previous trading day.
Prices of 221 stocks went up, 174 stocks dropped, while 174 stocks remained unchanged.

KUALA LUMPUR -- The Malaysian stock market ended higher here on Wednesday.
The Kuala Lumpur Composite Index (KLCI) was at 1,583.50 up 16.78 points or 1.07 percent, and the Emas was at 11,126.57 up 104.12 points or 0.94 percent.

HONG KONG -- Hong Kong stocks closed up 153.52 points, or 0.59 percent, to 26,129.18 points on Wednesday.
The benchmark Hang Seng Index traded between 25,849.78 and 26,299.84. Turnover totaled 196.19 billion Hong Kong dollars (about 25.31 billion U.S. dollars).

PHNOM PENH -- Cambodia's stocks finished lower on Wednesday, with the Cambodia Securities Exchange (CSX) Index down 4.16 points, or 0.6 percent, to close at 686.94.
A total of 17,228 shares worth 298.3 million riels (72,900 U.S. dollars) was traded, the CSX said, adding that 92 percent of the traded shares belonged to the ACLEDA Bank, whose price continued to fall by 0.78 percent to 17,920 riels (4.38 U.S. dollars).

SEOUL -- South Korean shares ended lower Wednesday.
The benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index (KOSPI) lost 5.29 points, or 0.24 percent, to settle at 2,158.88. Trading volume stood at 670 million shares worth 11.4 trillion won (9.5 billion U.S. dollars).

WELLINGTON -- New Zealand stock market's indicator, the S&P/NZX 50 index, dropped by 0.31 percent to 11,707 on Wednesday.
The drop was led by New Talisman Gold Mines Limited, which went down by 14.29 percent to 0.006 NZ dollars (0.004 U.S. dollars), while Blackwell Global Holdings Limited jumped by 22.22 percent to 0.022 NZ dollars.

TOKYO -- Tokyo stocks closed lower Wednesday as a resurgence of COVID-19 cases in the United States and elsewhere raised fears that reissuing lockdowns and business closures will further hamper the global economic recovery from the pandemic.
The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average dropped 176.04 points, or 0.78 percent, from Tuesday to close the day at 22,438.65.
